I'm FULL!!

No, that's not right.  (too much t.v.)

I'm FINISHED!!  I finally finished the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.  (whew)

Just in time to find out that a new J.R.R. Tolkien book is coming out - posthumously, of course.  Here's a link: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/04/16/tolkien.reut/index.html  This article also says that The Hobbit will be coming out in the movies too!  Yay!  I think that book should be read before the trilogy.

Of course, later I'll be writing my thoughts on the 2nd and 3rd books - since I haven't done that yet.  I didn't fold down as many corners in these two books.  But hit on some good stuff right at the very end of the last book.  I warn you now, it might get wordy.  So you might want to skip that entry!  LOL!

Today Oprah had some earth friendly stuff on her show that I largely missed and now Diane Sawyer is on with some of the same.  I really need to pay attention.  Oprah said something about plugging your tv into a power strip and turning off the power strip when you turn off the tv.  It saves a lot of energy??  I don't know why.  I need to look it up, but that sounds like a really easy way to save.  She said to start changing over to energy saving light bulbs, and that saves a lot.  We hadn't, because in the past few houses, we'd go through lightbulbs like crazy.  But this house is kinder on the lightbulbs.  So maybe I'll make a few changeovers.

I think Earth Day is Sunday?  Monday?  Do you recycle?  Is your hot water heater thermostat turned down to 120degrees?  Water saving shower sprayers, toilets?  Composting?  Here's an Oprah show idea: use one less paper napkin a day.  :-D  She said the average is 6 a day, I personally use maybe 2 or 3 - the boys use 10 to 12!  LOL!  (ok an exaggeration)  But I do go through some paper towels.  I like to use the select-a-size and mostly use the smallest size.  I save a lot doing that.

I think I might surf the net for more ways to save and "Go Green".

I tell you what though, solar powered hot water heaters, I'm definitely going to do that when we own our own home.  I'm all about lowering the electric bill.

Oh, quick topic change here: Quiznos Subs.  Do you have one?  Do you love it?  I just discovered it when I moved here.  I didn't like it at first, since you don't get to choose what you want on it - like at Subway.  (I love Subway)  That is, I didn't like it until I ordered the Cabo Chicken Sub.  YUM!!  It's got a little heat to it - so it's addictively spicey.  We went the other day.  Guess what's not on the menu any more??  You got it.  The NERVE!  Changing the menu...  And there isn't a thing on there that has that spicey kick to it.  :-(  I was craving that thing (no, I'm not pregnant).  I need to fire off an angry letter.  Humpf.

Isn't it crazy how spicey foods are addictive?  It's like when you eat chips and salsa - you keep eating to maintain that burn.  But it can't be too hot.  It has to taste good.  I don't like foods that are too hot, like Thai food or Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce.  I always get MILD Thai food.  Even medium is like the infernos of hell.  They must have the gastro intestinal system of steel.

Congrats on making it through the Rings. We're guilty here too, but here soon it'll be just me so I don't hardly use anything. I saw some of those clothes made from bamboo they looked really nice. They said the material was so soft. Funny when you think bamboo is hard. They have everything recycled really cute stuff, but I think I saw it watching one of the morning news shows. Have a great weekend. We're finally getting some warm temps I can't wait. Today on the list is going to get my daughter's prom dress. It's gorgeous and can't wait to see it on her.
Take care, Chrissie

We have a couple of lamps with those energy saving lightbulbs, and I never have to change them. They last forever!  We do recycle here. Our city gives us a big recycle container to put out on trash day.  We save it, they collect it.  Good arrangement.
Never had a Quizno's sub. I hear they are good.  Hope you are able to find something you like.
Have a good weekend.

Interesting.  I just bought a package of the Compact Fluorescemt Light bulbs today.  If you are renting, though, you might want to keep the old incandescent bulbs to replace in the fixtures before you move.  The CFL's last from 5 to 10 years, and cost a good bit more than the cheaper incandescent ones.  They are supposed to save a good deal on the electric bill, so no doubt worth it in the end.  Especially for those difficult to change places.  LaVern

My oldest son, Joshua loves LOTR. He has been a  fan of the movies since he was 5 (he is now 10) and faithfully watches them all once a month. He has also just finished the hobbit and is now onto the Fellowship. He loves reading the books and has even started playing the stratergy game. I will have to go check out the link you posted. Thanks!
